This course is designed for teachers of English working at primary, secondary and tertiary level, and focuses on current developments in the English Language and in English language teaching. The overall aim of the programme is to encourage teachers to improve their English proficiency; to keep up to date with developments in the English language and in ELT; to develop materials for use alongside their current course-books; to reflect on and develop their practice.
Participants, who are English teachers from all over the world, attend a plenary lecture and two workshop sessions a day. The workshop groups are never bigger than 12, and give participants the chance to work on projects that they can take back to their teaching.
Oxford University Press's ELT division is a part-sponsor of the programme.
The programme is held at Exeter College. Founded in 1314 it is one of the University's oldest colleges and situated in the heart of Oxford. Participants are taught there, stay in student accommodation and dine in the hall.
