Master's Degree Programme in Electrical Engineering, MSc (Tech) at Tampere University of Technology (TUT) offers qualified students a two-year programme of study in one of the following areas: biomedical engineering, electronics, smart grids in electrical energy distribution, and wireless communications. This is one of the eight English-speaking master's degree programmes of TUT.

When applying to this programme, the students select their focus area (major) from one of the following: biomedical engineering, electronics, smart grids or wireless communications. A rich variety of minor studies and supplemental courses are available as well as the opportunity to concentrate purely on major studies. In fact, each degree is a unique combination of studies the individual student has found most interesting.

The programme provides students with the expertise needed to become employed in today's high-tech business sector or in academic research or in a range of other work opportunities. Furthermore, the programme aims to provide students with a solid understanding of the fundamental facts and theories that underpin our engineering solutions today and in the future. The programme offers a multicultural and innovative study environment. When students take the courses that include laboratory and/or practical work, they will have access to our impressive research facilities at TUT. We believe in learning by doing!

Entry requirements

The applicant must have a 3 or 4 years Bachelor of Science degree from an internationally recognized university in the field of electronics or electrical engineering, or other disciplines related to the programme. The degree must include university mathematics, university physics, and elementary programming. The overall grade (CGPA) of the degree should reach at least 70 % of the maximum marks.

The official language of the programme is English. Therefore, a good command in English is necessary.One of the following language tests is required: TOEFL (min. score 79 in internet-based, 213 in computer-based or 550 in paper-based test, writing score minimum 20) IELTS (score 6.0 or higher, writing band score minimum 5,5) Cambridge Language Certificate (Proficiency CPE or Advanced CAE) (grade "C" or higher)All score reports should be sent to TUT directly from the testing centre. The TOEFL code of Tampere University of Technology is 0599. TUT has no institutional code for other language tests.Please note that no other language certificate or free-form statement can be accepted.
