Philosophy with Creative Writing BA
The Philosophy with Creative Writing BA will teach you to write and analyse texts and arguments with clarity, rigour, and originality. The Philosophy major will give you the ability to engage with central questions, arguments, theories and texts concerning the world and our place within it. You'll learn about the logic behind language and meaning, alongside studying topics such as ethics, metaphysics and aesthetics. The Creative Writing minor will enable you to express your philosophical judgements in a variety of forms, from short fiction to poetry to scriptwriting, as has been established practice in the history of philosophy.
Teaching & learning
You will experience an average of over 13 high-quality contact hours with academics per week, typically consisting of:
- 6 hours of degree lectures
- 1-hour one-to-one tutorial
- 1-hour small group tutorial
- 1.5 hours LAUNCH seminar
- 2 hours NCH Diploma lectures
- 1.5 hours professorial lectures

Timetables are usually made available to students during Freshers' Week. Teaching can be scheduled to take place during any day of the week. However, when possible, Wednesday afternoons are usually reserved for sports and cultural activities.
