About Innovative Health Technology, MSc - at KU Leuven

Today, there is a growing, global industry developing novel technologies to further advance modern health care. This advanced master's programme enables students to specialise in this domain, as they learn to design, develop and implement technological solutions for the healthcare sector.

What is the programme all about?

The  Master of Innovative Health Technology (Leuven) prepares students to design, develop and implement novel technologies in modern health care. These are technologies that better enable medical doctors, therapists and other care providers to identify symptoms, perform diagnoses, carry out surgery, cure diseases, programme therapy and follow up patients’ progress.

This advanced master’s programme has a specific focus on the integration of technologies and methodologies into usable systems. Recent trends in wearable sensors, bioelectronics, AI, robotics and healthcare apps are combined to inspire students to conceive and implement integrated solutions that can be tested and used by patients and health care professionals.

Structure

In this one-year programme, you are required to take six compulsory course units on engineering technology, entrepreneurship and additional topics relating to the human body. You will also learn to work in an interdisciplinary and international team in the Health Engineering Experience project. Finally, you will also complete a master’s thesis and internship.
