Our History BA builds a global perspective of how the past has shaped the present through political, social, cultural and economic influences, as well as providing practical experience in industry through placement opportunities. Course overview Embark on an exciting and interactive journey through our History degree at Keele.
You will explore how understandings of the past continue to shape the present, and learn how to apply History to address urgent issues facing the world today. On this programme, you will delve into influential themes such as gender, religion, revolution and war and how these have affected societies across different time periods and places, from medieval times through to the present day. The programme is carefully constructed over three years to develop your skills and support you to become the best historian you can be. In your first year, you will be introduced to chronology; in your second year, you will build on this chronological knowledge to explore themes; in your third year you will apply the knowledge and methods refined over the last two years to specialist case studies and produce your own exciting independent History project.
This will allow you to specialise in an area of your choice, utilising your analytical skills, passion for historical research, and creativity to showcase your individuality and critical thinking. Throughout your degree, you will have the opportunity to apply your learning to real-world scenarios, whilst also demonstrating your expertise through projects and placements, engaging with industry experts. With several placement opportunities available, preparation for employability is at the core of our programme. These placements allow you to work with peers and professionals to deepen your knowledge, gain new skills and refine your creativity.
