About Forensic Psychology, BSc (Hons) - at Keele University

Start your journey to train in forensic psychology. Study the psychology of crime, investigation and punishment on our BPS-accredited programme. Build an understanding of the mind, brain and behaviour and uncover how people think, communicate and act when committing crimes. You will build a foundational understanding of core psychological topics, alongside practical skills to prepare you for a wide variety of careers.

Course overview Are you curious about why people commit crimes, how crimes are investigated and the consequence of punishment? On this programme, delve into the study of the mind, brain and behaviour across various forensic contexts to understand how people think, feel and act within crime investigation, victim support and offender rehabilitation. Our BPS-accredited programme* covers the principle topics of cognition, individual differences and social development. You will gain practical skills in both quantitative and qualitative research, ensuring a thorough understanding of diverse psychological methodologies.

With access to various facilities and equipment from virtual reality headsets, brain stimulation equipment and our state of the art Central Science Laboratories , you will have the chance to explore human behaviour both theoretically and practically. As you progress through your degree you will be able to further explore areas of personal interests, enabling you to dig deeper and tailor your degree to your career interests through module selection. At Keele, you will advance your professional skills as a researcher and psychologist in the making. Whether you would like to pursue a career in industry or related fields, our programme equips you with core skills in communication, problem-solving and analytical thinking to help prepare you for employment.

This involves practical experience with real-world research projects, industry equipment and placement opportunities, enabling you to apply your learning and prepare for a range of careers and/or further study.
