IHE Delft is the largest international graduate water education facility in the world and is based in Delft, the Netherlands. For over sixty years, the Institute has been offering a wide variety of educational courses in the field of water, with a particular focus on sustainable development. In addition to four MSc Programmes, the Institute also offers a wide range of short and online courses. Our Graduate School for Water and Development provides a stimulating research environment for our PhD fellows and staff of the Institute. Currently we have approximately 136 fellows.
IHE Delft combines Delft and Dutch water expertise with the latest insights from professional practices worldwide. The institute creates a life-changing experience for its students by exposing them to an intercultural environment, characterized by plurality and diversity of ideas, experiences and disciplines. The campus is located along the main canal of Delft. The human scale of these premises allows students to feel at home easily and to communicate with academic staff in a personal setting.
Upon leaving IHE Delft, graduates start or resume a career dealing with water and sanitation services, managing the urban water cycle, water policy and planning, environmental regulation or civil engineering design and construction in the water sector. Alternatively they may apply their new found knowledge to related sectors, such as infrastructure, energy, agriculture or mining. Careers include working in public administration, the private sector or as entrepreneurs, academia and research institutes, NGOs and for international organizations.
