The Diploma of Entertainment Journalism is ideal for students wanting to work in journalism and media for the entertainment industries. You will be taught and mentored by industry experts who are currently working as entertainment journalists, bloggers and social media managers. You will also learn from those who write for print and online entertainment magazines and publications.

You will undertake fundamental units such as feature writingsocial mediavideo and digital journalism, as well as entertainmentlifestylefashionmusicperformance and screen journalism.

Entry requirements

Students must first meet the general entry requirements before progressing to the interview stage and meeting additional specific course entry requirements. 

All international student applicants must be at least 18 years of age at the time of commencement of study.

The academic minimum entry requirement is one of the following:

  • Completion of an Australian Year 12 Senior Secondary Certificate of Education or overseas equivalent
  • International Baccalaureate
  • Completed Australian AQF (Australian Qualifications Framework) Certificate IV
  • Completed Foundation year at any Australian Higher Education Provider
  • Completed one full-time semester at any Australian Higher Education Provider
  • Completed one full-time year at an overseas Higher Education Provider.

Meet the minimum English proficiency requirements evidenced by achieving an IELTS 6.5 (no band lower than 6.0)

  • Applicants who do not meet the minimum English Proficiency Levels can take an intensive English course to gain the required level of proficiency at one of Collarts’ pathway provider partners.
  • All documents must be certified and translated (if originals are not in English).
