Straddling the equator, Indonesia is a Southeast Asian collection of around 17,000 islands. Although only about 6,000 of these islands are known to be inhabited, the country's history is long and rich, heavily influenced by tradition and religions. There are several of Indonesia's universities in the QS World University rankings top 500. Many of these universities offer degree programmes in the English language, and there are around 6,000 international students choosing to study in Indonesia each year.
