Petroleum engineering is a discipline that covers the understanding, exploration and uses of oil and gas. Petroleum engineers are responsible for allowing the modern world to run, providing energy and materials for the wide variety of industries across the globe. As the world develops, a petroleum engineer will also need to adapt their knowledge to facilitate the safe, sustainable and efficient development of oil and gas assets.
Modules you study could include engineering materials, chemical engineering, reaction engineering, engineering management, and sustainable engineering. Your degree will be delivered in a mixture of modes. These could include lectures and seminars, as well as group projects and laboratory sessions. Depending on your course, you may also be presented with the opportunity to take part in a work placement.
