Study a Insurance degree in the USA in 2025

Insurance is a form of risk management that is normally a contract between a customer and provider. The customer pays a certain amount of money and in return receives a form of leverage or reparation with the occurrence of certain events. There are many different types of insurance available, and these days, it's heavily promoted as an investment for individuals and families. Anyone who is interested in being an insurance professional must typically study an insurance course, as well as gain a license to practice.

Insurance courses help prepare individuals pursuing a license through different programs, including those that feature practical training. Normally, these courses do not lead to a degree, and a certificate is granted instead. Alternatively, students can opt to study insurance alongside another subject, such as finance or economics, as part of an official degree program.

The courses may vary in structure depending on the educational institution. Introductory courses focusing on the fundamentals of the insurance industry are available, and there are courses for more specific topics like property insurance, life insurance, claims management and risk management.
