About Computer Science (Video Games) with a Year in Industry, BSc (Hons) - at University of Kent

Video games blend creativity and technology - and behind every great game is a team of skilled computer scientists. At Kent, our BSc in Computer Science (Video Games) gives you the skills to design, build and optimise interactive worlds, from indie titles to AAA experiences.

You’ll start with the core foundations of computing, from programming and algorithms to systems design and reinforce your learning through hands-on development projects. You’ll gain a solid grounding in mathematics and software engineering, so even those without a maths A-level can quickly build the analytical and creative skills needed for game development.

You’ll study on a campus known for its supportive community, working with expert academics who research and teach in areas such as artificial intelligence, computational creativity and human–computer interaction. Their insights feed directly into your learning, helping you stay ahead in a fast-moving industry.

In your final year, you’ll bring your ideas to life through specialist modules and you’ll showcase your skills in a project that could form the foundation of your career portfolio.
