About Health Research (Part time), MSc - at University of East Anglia (UEA)

Study

An MSc in Health Research at UEA is a path for new doctors to develop a research-related element in their career. It provides the skills, awareness and discipline needed to carry out effective research at the highest level in a patient-centred, ethically sound way. It gives a deeper understanding of the underlying theories and importance of critical review in evidence-based medicine and improves confidence to help students communicate better as a medical professional.

Structure

The course provides a broader, more considered approach to specialist areas of medical research, developing both practical and scientific skills. An academic Clinical Fellowship at UEA is designed to provide the support needed for the student to carry out proficient research in their area of choice, complete with a focused dissertation in their final year.

Teaching

The School of Medicine at the University of East Anglia has an established reputation for exciting and innovative approaches to education supported by a strong and rapidly developing research programme. As part of the Faculty of Health it has a growing emphasis on inter-professional co-operation in teaching and research.

Employability

As well as gaining an appreciation of the huge breadth of medicine, students will appreciate the benefits of research and the value that health professionals can bring to the advancement of knowledge. This understanding can be applied to their future career as a health professional, or to pursue further study in a PhD.
