Study
The perfect opportunity to develop initial business ideas and plan a real commercial venture, with relevant support, before starting the business once you graduate. This degree is uniquely focused on helping you to develop and realise your business ideas, with study modules drawing upon the competencies of the four UEA faculties and its professional partners.
Structure
The structure of the course will support this business development, as all assessment is via targeted coursework. The first semester takes all participants (irrespective of experience) through the fundamentals of business creation. In semester 2, you have the chance to tailor your learning to your chosen business focus. Uniquely, in the third semester you will have a choice of exit routes such as: take a number of business school modules, research some aspect of your own business culminating in a dissertation, consultancy on behalf of a business culminating in a consultancy report, create your final Business Plan and present to potential investors, or finally secure investment and prepare to launch your business, with a supportive incubation period at UEA's Enterprise Centre for a further six months.
Teaching
The course activities are focused into three days per week, giving you four days per week to work on your business. Teaching is jointly taught by experts at UEA along with many tutors within the enterprise community, experienced in business and business creation. Delivered in the stunningly sustainable UEA Enterprise Centre, participants will be motivated and focused on developing and launching their own businesses in an entrepreneurial community of like-minded people, supported by mentors and investors.
Employability
The idea of this course is to help you to launch your own successful business, with a choice of four potential exit routes after course completion that help to achieve this. You will have the support of the strong Enterprise community at UEA, plus access to Career Central services throughout the degree.
The first requirement of this course is to have a desire to create your own business (UEA request that you submit your business idea with your application). The second is a good 2.2 degree (or equivalent) in any subject area from a recognised institution, professional qualifications, or technical qualifications.
