  • And in the second year, the Environment and Resource Management master programme at Free University of Amsterdam (VUA)

These disciplines are complementary and their combination is highly sought-after in the industry. The language of instruction and examination at both institutions is English.

Notes about fees for this course

The selected students will be enrolled as regular students at UAntwerp during the first year of the programme and at both institutions during the second year. They will pay tuition fees to UAntwerp for the first year and to VU Amsterdam for the second year.

Entry requirements

The following students are eligible to apply for the Double/Dual Degree programme:

  • Admission to the Master's programme is possible for an applicant who has obtained a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited research university including at least three full years of academic study amounting to a minimum of 180 ECTS or equivalent. Third year bachelor students can apply but will, upon acceptance, only be allowed to start the programme subject to the condition that they obtained their Bachelor degree by the ultimate registration date for the Master programme. Studies from all disciplinary backgrounds will be considered, but the following subjects provide a particularly relevant basis for participating in the Double/Dual degree programme: Environmental Studies, Economics, Natural Sciences. The Admissions Board will investigate whether the applicant meets the admission requirements. When the programme commences, the candidate must have fully completed a (a) relevant Bachelor’s programme, or (b) a Bachelor’s programme complemented by either the pre-Master’s programme or
    minor programme ‘Sustainability: Grand Challenges, Interdisciplinary Solutions’.
  • Applicants should demonstrate that they have a sufficient level of proficiency in English. If your degree was not issued by a NVAO-accredited educational institution in Belgium or the Netherlands or a recognized education institution in Luxembourg, you will have to provide evidence of your proficiency in English. Such proof can be provided by meeting at least one of the following standards, no more than two years before the start of the programme:
    • Academic IELTS (International English Language Testing System) 6.5 or higher, with a minimum of 6.0 for each part.
    • TOEFL
      • TOEFL internet based test 92
        • Minimum Sub-score Reading 18
        • Minimum Sub-score Listening 19
        • Minimum Sub-score Speaking 19
        • Minimum Sub-score Writing 23
      • A prior full English-language diploma from Canada, the United States, the
        United Kingdom, Ireland, New Zealand or Australia;
      • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in an accredited English-taught programme
        in another member state of the European Union
      • Have obtained a Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) or a
        Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English (CAE) with a score of A, B or C.
  • Unless exempted, applicants should include a GMAT Focus Edition or GRE test result
    • in their application:
      • GMAT Focus Edition overall score of 565 or higher and minimum score of 82
        on quantitative reasoning;
      • GRE with a minimum score of 160 on quantitative reasoning and a minimum
        score of 152 on verbal reasoning.
      • Students are exempted from submitting a GMAT Focus Edition/GRE test
        result if they have obtained their economics degree at one of the following
        institutions:
        • A university ranked in the global top 400 in the most recent
          edition of THE or QS World Ranking;
        • A university with an AACSB, EFMD or EQUIS accreditation
