About Transformative Sustainability, MSc - at Politecnico di Milano

Two of Italy’s most prestigious universities, Bocconi and Politecnico di Milano, have joined forces to prepare new professionals in the field of transformative sustainability. The two-year program, entirely taught in English, is based on a complementary blend of their strengths: Politecnico brings knowledge on the most advanced technologies and an engineering approach to design, innovate and manage sustainable systems. Bocconi shares its expertise on the strategic and economic aspects of sustainability.

This cutting-edge program combines fields in technology (technologies for the environment, energy, mobility and circularity) with the fields in the social sciences (management, economics and quantitative and legal disciplines) that are needed to manage a just sustainable transition within organizations.

Entry requirements

A Bachelor Degree in one of the following fields:  Engineering, Business, Economics, Political Sciences. 

Applicants should ideally have multidisciplinary backgrounds and an interest to study a range of subjects across different disciplines. A passion for contributing to solve grand societal challenges and for a sustainability approach to management and economics is of course envisaged.

Fees, Funding and Scholarships at Politecnico di Milano

Students enrolled in a Master of Science programme have several scholarships opportunities.

Merit-based scholarships are awarded to the most talented students admitted to the first and the second semester. The scholarship covers the tuition fees and may provide beneficiaries with free accommodation in a student residence and/or pocket money.

Further funding opportunities are offered by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI). The application is usually open from March till June.

Applicants to the 1st semester (September intake) coming from Azerbaijan, Brazil, Colombia, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Mexico, People’s Republic of China, Tunisia, Turkey and Vietnam can apply for scholarships offered under the Invest your Talent in Italy project.

U.S. students applying to a postgraduate programme at Politecnico di Milano may apply to a Fulbright award.

Sebastian, from Bogotá, chose Politecnico di Milano for its high-quality teaching and fell in love with Milan's multicultural atmosphere.

While in Italy, he grew fond of running and participated in the Polimi Run, a competition which takes place twice a year.

Rogerio, from Brazil, and Yiwei, from China, met each other thanks to Politecnico di Milano Buddy project.

The Buddy project matches new international students with current students of the university according to the programme and the interests of the two.

A Buddy is a current student who, on a voluntary basis, will help one international student by getting in contact before arrival, answering questions, giving useful tips, introducing student life at the university and in the city for the first three months after arrival.
