Humanitas’ MEDTEC Course on Building the Medical Future

Humanitas University, MEDTEC School

Just 10km from Milan, Humanitas University is one of the best Italian medical schools: its integration with both the Humanitas Hospital and Research Center is a way for students to try firsthand how important it is for doctors to continually break new ground in the medical landscape.

Humanitas University mission is to provide innovative and quality medicine in order to make real advancements in patient care, seeking to solve some of the major problems a modern doctor has to face: not only technology is advancing more rapidly that anyone can follow, but it is penetrating the field of medicine as well. At the same time, modern society is facing new situations that need addressing, such as the aging population, the increase of chronic illnesses and the necessity of access to medical treatments.

All these aspects are a strong indication of the need of a new medical figure that has the ability to combine the medical and technological fields, and this is what inspired the MEDTEC Degree course in Medicine and Biomedical engineering.

The MEDTEC degree course: how we face innovation

Together with Politecnico di Milano, Humanitas University aims to train new professional figures who will be able to analyze situations from a fresh perspective and in a more complete way: not only knowing what the needs of the patients are, but also what the industry has to give.

The MEDTEC degree course hosts every year 70 students from around the world and offers an integrate program that merges the Medicine and Surgery program with Biomedical engineering from two of the best universities in Italy, Humanitas University and Politecnico di Milano: during the six years, which are entirely taught in English, students will obtain additional ECTS and, at the end of the course, they will gain two different degrees

  • Master Degree in Medicine and Surgery
  • Bachelor Degree in Biomedical Engineering

Humanitas aims to form a doctor that will be able to treat patients through the management of technological developments in medicine and related sectors, including disease prevention and treatment, patient rehabilitation and the development of innovative diagnostic and therapeutic solutions.

TRUE INTEGRATION When applying a prosthesis, you will find two main figures in an operating room: a surgeon, who will perform the procedure, and a biomedical engineer, that will help with the materials. Both are essential to the patient, but they may not know each other fields or ideas. A MEDTEC graduate will have the expertise of both professionals and the ability to combine one with the other in the most complementary way.

How?

While challenging due to its high specialization, the MEDTEC Degree Course is more than just a futuristic fantasy.

As for many medical schools, the first step consists on passing the admission test, but from this year Humanitas University offers two opportunities per year to take the MEDTEC School admission test, and only the higher of the two scores obtained will be considered in the final ranking list.

Furthermore, also for second to last year students it is possible to take the admission tests this year, having two additional tests during their final year: only the higher of the four scores obtained will be considered in the final ranking list for 2024/25 a.y. intake.

Our suggestion? Don’t miss this chance and step into your medical career at Humanitas University: you won’t regret it!

Both sessions of the test will be held online on the following dates

  • March 31st, 2023
  • April 21st, 2023

If you wish to be a part of the medical future, register before March 23rd.
