About Management, MPhil, PhD - at Henley Business School

The Department of Management is home to six Management related Research Centres. Staff within these centres are actively involved in teaching and research in the wider Department but find a focus for their research activities within the dedicated Centres.

Current Research Interests :

  • Centre for Comparative Strategic Organisation

  • Centre for Institutional Performance

  • International Accounting

  • The Centre for Entrepreneurship

  • The Centre for International Business History

  • The Huck Centre for Management Science Research

  • Centre for Comparative Strategic Organisation

This newly created centre provides a forum for scholarship and ideas in comparative strategic organisation and management studies. Research focuses on pertinent organisational issues around strategy and managerial practices in relation to culture, space, time and ownership types. These four dimensions, placed within a comparative framework, will enable the analysis of organisation and management from multiple perspectives, in context, over time and also spatially.

Centre for Institutional Performance

The Centre for Institutional Performance (CIP) has been set up to study and assess institutional arrangements between markets (firms, industries and regulation), governments, and non-governmental organisations (non-profit institutions such as charity and pressure groups).

International Accounting

The group of researchers in this subject have investigated the causes and the nature of international differences in financial reporting. Another topic is the use of International Accounting Standards around the World.

The Centre for Entrepreneurship

This Centre aims to act as a forum for transferring knowledge between those who are interested in entrepreneurship from an academic perspective, and those who are engaged in practice in entrepreneurial ventures of all kinds.

The Department of Management is home to six Management related Research Centres. Staff within these centres are actively involved in teaching and research in the wider Department but find a focus for their research activities within the dedicated Centres.

The Centre for International Business History

Since its establishment in 1997, CIBH has strived to promote the study of the past development and future evolution of business in an international and comparative context. Our members have consistently sought to combine a commitment to quality historical scholarship with a search for valid generalisations of business behaviour.

The Huck Centre for Management Science Research

This new research centre has been established with a generous benefaction from John Lloyd Huck, former CEO and President of Merck Inc, and has been established jointly with Royal Holloway and New Bedford College, University of London. The Centre supports innovative research and provides research scholarships and bursaries to students to help them achieve their educational objectives at the University. The main research emphasis has been on studies of culture and leadership in UK and foreign multinationals.
