The Master of Petroleum Engineering covers the technical disciplines associated with the development of conventional and unconventional oil and gas resources.

The program combines The University of Queensland's (UQ) world-class reputation in teaching and research with current industry insights, and it will shape you and your fellow students as the next generation of highly skilled professionals that will solve future energy challenges.

Owing to a unique collaboration with an industry leading training provider, Fendley Skills Development, up to 25 master students are  able to undertake internationally recognised and certified well control courses (e.g. Well Control Levels 2 to 4 – both IWCF and IADC) at no extra cost while studying with us, using state-of-the art simulation equipment.

International students are eligible to apply for a number of scholarships and prizes. These may be offered by the University, the Australian Government, foreign governments, or private organisations.

Notes about fees for this course

The indicative annual fee is the cost of enrolling in the Master of Petroleum Engineering for the 2018 academic year. It is calculated based on a standard full-time study load.

Entry requirements

Entrants to the program will normally have an Honours Degree in engineering or a relevant science discipline such as geology, physics, chemistry or mathematics. In addition to the academic qualifications, relevant industrial experience is taken into consideration.

English proficiency: IELTS overall 6.5; reading 6; writing 6; speaking 6; listening 6. For other English Language Proficiency Tests and Scores approved by The University of Queensland.
