About Executive Master Strategy and Management of Health Industries, Other Masters - at ESSEC Business School

A unique program

More than ever, rapid changes in health systems, biomedical innovation and globalized economic issues require each player to strengthen their leadership as they manage change. On an individual level, these challenges necessitate more than just technical skills: they call on an ability to understand and analyze, on creativity, and on an entrepreneurial mindset focused on initiative and action. All these talents can be acquired in an institution such as ESSEC, which has been highly specialized in the health sector for more than 30 years.

The Executive Master Strategy and Management of Health Industries (SMHI) is designed for high-potential managers ready to take on new responsibilities in pharmaceutical, medical device and insurance companies or healthcare organizations.

Accredited by the French Conférence des Grandes Écoles and in partnership with University Paris-Descartes, the SMHI Master offers a unique part-time program that is compatible with a professional activity. The educational approach centers around case studies, role-playing, simulation games, a professional thesis, an immersion trip, managerial and entrepreneurial skills imparted by high-level faculty and leading experts. Through its international reach and the diversity of its participants, this program offers a stimulating laboratory of ideas, a space for free forward thinking on the impact that health innovations will have over the next decade. It strives to not only provide participants with new skills, but to reveal their talents.

Admissions procedure

The SMHI Executive Master is open to holders of a Master degree who have at least three years of professional experience. In some cases, waivers may be granted for students approaching the end of their studies or for atypical profiles with exceptional potential.

Application file

The application file consists of several sections covering the applicant’s motivation, career plan, intellectual openness and a tentative topic for their professional thesis. The application file also includes documents such as a resume in English, copies of diplomas, and two letters of recommendation.

Interview

The interview lasts 30 minutes and is conducted by a jury composed of the program’s academic director, a program graduate and an industry representative.

English test

The English test is a mandatory part of the application procedure, though it does not disqualify candidates. Several types of evaluations may be used: GMAT (score > 650) or TAGE-MAGE (score > 300) + TOEIC (> w800) or TOEFL (> 90). TAGE-MAGE + TOEIC sessions are held regularly on the ESSEC campus. Thorough preparation for these tests significantly improves applicants’ results. For more information, please contact ESSEC.
