Be a life saver

Advances in medicine rely on advances in knowledge. It's why over 10 years ago Western created a new kind of School of Medicine. Since then, we've seen more than 600 graduates enter the medical profession and make a difference.

You will have access to state-of-the-art research facilities and our brand new neuroscience behavioural investigation laboratory. The Clinical Schools out of which you will be based, along with our Campbelltown campus, are brand new and purpose built specifically for our students. Four themes run throughout this course: patient care, health in the community, personal and professional development, and scientific basis of medicine. Clinical learning begins from the first weeks and as you work with and learn from real patients. You will be supported by small-group collaborative learning at the bedside and on campus that continues throughout the program. Applying the biomedical sciences to clinical problems, you will acquire and practice clinical and research skills as you build your portfolio of evidence of your learning.

You will extend and apply your knowledge and practical skills in full-time clinical and community placements, complete a scholarly project and build your clinical experience through placements in speciality and subspecialty medicine. These placements range from major metropolitan hospitals to general practices and Aboriginal medical services in rural and remote areas.

Professional accreditation

Graduates will be eligible for registration by the Medical Board of Australia and its equivalent in New Zealand following successful completion of a period of internship or supervised training. You will also be able to apply for registration in a number of overseas countries.

Christine Yujian Tang - China, Master of Creative Industries

Testimonial from Christine Yujian Tang - China, Master of Creative Industries, student at Western Sydney University

Not only did I get a feeling of what the industry, the media, the news and journalism is like, I got a taste of what that operating system is like - how to present in front of an audience and how to film it.

Isam Al-Handola - Iraq, Master of Public Health

Testimonial from Isam Al-Handola - Iraq, Master of Public Health, student at Western Sydney University

I feel that I have made the best choice - especially because of the technology-infused learning. I love the way the course is taught using a multimedia approach, and that it has access to a whole online library to read material for tutorials and research assignments.
