Our Faculty of Engineering is one of the largest engineering faculties in the UK, and the largest in Scotland. We are home to over 5,500 students from over 100 countries, who all study within our eight world-class departments:

We have over 50 postgraduate taught programmes for you to choose from. Our growing postgraduate community includes 700 postgraduate taught students and almost 700 postgraduate research students. The majority of our programmes are fully accredited by the relevant professional Engineering institutions.

Support Throughout Your Studies

You’ll enjoy a full programme of support and training from the Faculty. Your studies will begin with a full induction programme to welcome you to Strathclyde and your new Department. A number of networking events, presentation days and programme monitoring classes are provided to give you all the support you need during your time studying with us.

You’ll also be assigned your own personal supervisor for the duration of your studies. We want to ensure that you have the best possible experience studying with us, and to help prepare you for your time following Strathclyde.

Flexible Learning Options

We feel that everyone should be given the opportunity to learn, and so we offer a varied choice of flexible learning options. Some postgraduate courses can be studied on a part-time basis, an option that allows you to gain the same degree in a different way.

Distance learning options are also available for some courses. Distance learning courses are hosted online, but have the advantage of real tutors giving you support through forums and live webinars. Distance learning allows you to study at your own pace, at times and places that are convenient for you.

We offer a wide range of scholarships to our postgraduate students. Scholarships can help you in a number of ways, such as payment towards fees, materials, and to provide monthly living allowances.

Scholarships at Faculty of Engineering, University of Strathclyde

We offer a wide range of scholarships to our postgraduate students. Scholarships can help you in a number of ways, such as payment towards fees, materials, and to provide monthly living allowances.

Our Faculty of Engineering Excellence Scholarship is just one scholarship we have on offer to international postgraduate taught students who are looking to join the Faculty, and offers a scholarship of up to £2,800 towards tuition fees. 

Accommodation Information for Students

As an international student going to University, it often means that you will be living away from home for the first time. You’ll need to find somewhere to stay where you’ll feel settled, comfortable and safe.

At Strathclyde, we’ll provide secure accommodation for every new student where you can make friends and feel at the centre of university life. To make your time here as easy and straightforward as possible, we have a dedicated Residence Services team to help you all year round.

The University of Strathclyde and the city of Glasgow is a unique combination - full of opportunities and interesting people to meet. At the halls of residence, you will get to know lots of people very quickly - where you’ll make lifelong friendships and find out more about yourself.

All residences offer an independent lifestyle where you retain your privacy but still have the company of others if you wish. There are opportunities to join in social events, ranging from traditional Scottish celebrations to international events which reflect the cosmopolitan flavour of the residences.

Over 1,440 students live in the University’s campus village in the heart of the John Anderson Campus. A further 400 live in University accommodation within close walking distance of the Campus. Prices for weekly rent, range from £105* for single study room, to £137* for en-suite.
