This degree aims to enable students to complete a postgraduate program that will lead to an advanced level of knowledge in a specialised area of engineering. The graduate certificate of engineering technology (computer systems and telecommunications engineering) is ideal for engineers or scientists who have a three-year degree in science, engineering or technology and want to extend their knowledge. Through this four unit degree, students have the option to select from a range of courses (subjects) which will immerse them in the design and development of major hardware and software programs, as well as networking. Courses include digital signal processing, wireless and internet technology and computer network programming. Students could take the credit from their studies and go on to complete the master of engineering technology. As a computer systems and telecommunications graduate, students could work in hardware design, networking or software engineering. Computer systems engineering careers are not limited to the IT industry, but all government and private enterprises which require telecommunications or computer systems expertise.
