This degree aims to enable students to complete a postgraduate program that will lead to an advanced level of knowledge in a specialised area of engineering. The graduate certificate of engineering technology (mechatronic engineering) is ideal for engineers or scientists who have a three-year degree in science, engineering or technology and want to extend their knowledge of mechatronic engineering. Through this four unit degree, students have the option to select from a range of courses (subjects) which combine the disciplines of mechanical, electrical and electronic engineering. Courses include production engineering, computational mechanics in design and electronic measurement. Students could take the credit from their studies and go on to complete the master of engineering technology. Mechatronic engineering at USQ provides students with the knowledge and skills to apply to any industry where computers control machines and processes, including mining, manufacturing, farming, medicine, food processing and energy systems. Students experience could see, creating diverse products such as substitutes for human sensors and organs or specialised robots for farming.
