Are you passionate about issues impacting the community and working to improve community living for all groups of people? Interested in learning about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, history and perspectives in contemporary society?
This program is delivered by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff at USQ to enable students to develop the ability to work with and within Indigenous communities in culturally appropriate and effective ways. Throughout the Community Development and Indigenous Studies major, you will be challenged to critically analyse and debate contemporary issues that affect communities, such as:
ethics and social welfare
gender and racial equality
social justice, and
The Honours component of this degree involves completing a research project on a topic of choice under the supervision of a staff member. The Honours program can also provide further exposure and industry experience, preparing you for an exciting career in the human services industry.
Graduates can work as community development officers or human service professionals in government and community settings, social care institutions, or organisations that design and offer programs and services to Indigenous communities.
