About Electronic Engineering at University of Reading

The first year of all the degrees covers the basics of electrical engineering science, mathematics and computer programming. Year 2 deepens your knowledge in specific areas of electronic design, including embedded systems. The final year allows you to broaden out into areas such as computer networking, image processing or robotics. There is an extensive use of design-based laboratory and project work to support the lectures. Management and business studies are taught and an option exists to take a modern foreign language in the final year.

The MEng programme starts to differ from the BEng at the end of the second year. In the third year, project work is focussed on preparing for the major industrially-based project taken during the first six months of the fourth year. Other modules offered at this stage include topics such as advanced digital signal processing, advanced communications, networking and reliability engineering.
