As with many specialist fields of work, experience is key to contextualising what you've learned and to getting future employment, which is why you'll complete a 6-month work placement or professional experience module as part of this course.

Your academic studies will support and expand your practical experience. You'll get a grounding in essential marketing tools, techniques and theories including social media marketing and analytics. You'll also focus on the specific mechanics and workings of the fashion industry by studying topics such as fashion branding and fashion entrepreneurship.

You'll have opportunities to go on an international study trip and get valuable experience working on live marketing campaigns with local, national or international organisations. 

When you graduate, you'll be ready to work in many areas of the fashion and marketing industries, in organisations of all sizes.

What you'll experienceOn this course you'll:

  • Apply what you learn in the industry, by working with a fashion brand on a live brief – you'll deal directly with clients, working within professional constraints to deadlines

6-month professional experience module

In this module, you'll do a work placement or a professional experience programme. You'll do this for 6 months between September and March after you've completed your year of taught studies.

Work placement

Your placement at the end of the course gives you the opportunity to get valuable professional experience in the fashion marketing industry.

You can begin looking and applying for placements after completing your first teaching block. You'll get support from the Careers and Employability Centre and the Faculty's Creative Careers team.

Note that work placements can't be guaranteed because it depends on their availability and the specific needs of placement providers. We'll give you the support you need to identify work placements but you'll be responsible for securing a placement successfully.

Professional experience programme

If you're unable to secure a work placement, you'll complete a professional experience programme designed to meet your career aspirations.

You'll further develop your employability and enterprise skills and prepare yourself for the workplace. This could be an entrepreneurship, industry-related or consultancy project, or other activities appropriate for your career development.

UK/Channel Islands and Isle of Man students – £9,200 (plus £940 for the work-based module/placement)
EU students (including Transition Scholarship) – £9,200 (plus £940 for the work-based module/placement)
International students – £16,300 (plus £1,700 for the work-based module/placement)

Entry requirements

Qualifications or experience
A 2:1 degree in a relevant subject, or equivalent professional experience and/or qualifications. An interview/portfolio may be required as part of the selection process.

English language requirements
English language proficiency at a minimum of IELTS band 6.5 with no component score below 6.0.
