The School of English and Journalism offers advanced research opportunities within the subjects of English and Creative Writing.
As a research student, you will have access to support and training which can help to develop the practical and critical skills necessary for investigation and study at doctoral level. Direction will be available from your supervisory team and you can benefit from the School's research expertise in areas including 21st Century writing, postcolonial studies, Gothic literature, utopian studies and 19th Century literature.
Regular research seminars and postgraduate study groups aim to provide a stimulating environment in which to discuss and debate theoretical concepts with fellow students, scholars and visiting academics. An interdisciplinary research culture may facilitate collaboration with colleagues across topics and strong links exist with the Schools of Film & Media, History & Heritage and Fine & Performing Arts.
