About International Business Management at University of Huddersfield

This is a long standing and popular course, designed to meet the needs of students who have already completed a business related degree and wish to develop a subject specialism in international business management. The programme will give you the opportunity to gain an in-depth understanding of the rapidly changing and dynamic international environment, as well as various cross border business activities. This course attracts a diverse range of students from around the world, and the teaching environment is international in its nature.

You'll develop the skills needed to identify strategies available to firms operating at an international level, and develop an understanding of the activities and operations of multinational enterprises. This programme will provide the opportunity for you to study a wide range of topics in international business, from both a theoretical and practical perspective.

The course is designed around both core and optional modules. The core modules cover the fundamentals of international business such as International Economics, Cross-Cultural Management and International Business Environment. A wide range of options in areas such as marketing, international trade, economics and human resource management, offer the flexibility for you to tailor the programme to your personal and career interests. The course also offers an additional route specialising in finance.

The teaching on this programme not only encourages you to develop knowledge of the area, but it also allows you to learn skills in critical thinking and analysis. We use a wide range of teaching styles, from formal lectures to practical experience. Extensive use is made of case studies and current affairs. Modules have different teaching and assessment strategies: in some you will undertake individual work, in others you will work in groups.

There are additional specialist routes on this course in hospitality, tourism and financial services.

In 2018/19 the full-time tuition fee for UK and EU postgraduate students on this course will be £6,500.

Entry requirements

Entry requirements for this course are normally:

  • An Honours degree (2:2 or above) in any subject or an equivalent professional qualification.

  • Applicants with other professional qualifications and/or experience will be considered individually.

  • Applicants whose first language or language of instruction is not English must meet the minimum requirements of an English language qualification. The minimum of IELTS 6.0 overall with no element lower than 5.5 or equivalent will be considered acceptable.

  • In exceptional cases students with no appropriate qualifications but relevant work experience, who can demonstrate ability to benefit from postgraduate study, will be considered on an individual basis. Candidates' suitability will be assessed in line with the University's Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning procedures.

  • Students wishing to transfer into the MSc Management suite from other awards or other universities will be considered on an individual basis upon evaluation of the modular credit and learning outcomes already achieved.
