About Architecture at University of Huddersfield

The MA Spatial Design course is offered as a 1 year full-time or 2 year part-time programme both in the University of Huddersfield (UK) and as a franchised programme in Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) in Singapore. It provides opportunities for individual focus within the generic arena of spatial design allowing for the critical evaluation and debate of relevant and current topics and issues associated with innovative spatial design in the contemporary designed, built and communicative environment. The programme aims to develop a rigorous understanding of concerns which impact on design thinking, realisation and implementation and the relationships and interactions found between culture, commerce and creative design interpretation. The MA programme seeks to explore the synergies between intellectual and commercial ideas and values and the philosophical and practical interpretations related to the 'meaning of space'. The course develops a high level of critical understanding, design thinking, design creativity and innovation. It engenders an holistic approach to rigorous design research and enquiry, design development and communication, whilst promoting an ethos associated with fostering both a strong individual and enhanced personal signature and philosophy and recognition of the context of spatial design in the global market place of today ... and tomorrow.Course StructureStage 1 (Postgraduate Certificate) Research Methodologies (15) Innovation and Technology (15) Advanced Design Project A (30) 15 weeks full-time Stage 2 (Postgraduate Diploma) Critical Design Analysis (30) Advanced Design Project B (30) 15 weeks full-time Stage 3 (Masters MA) Masters Design Thesis (60) 15 weeks full-timeEntrance RequirementsBA(Hons) degree (2.1 or above) in Spatial Design, Interior Design, Exhibition Design or related subject.
