This programme focuses on the history, politics and culture of the Middle East in the 20th century. The emphasis is on understanding the region from a continuity/change perspective through processes of political, socio-economic and cultural modernisation. In working on their dissertation projects, students will benefit from the extensive library collection on this subject. The basis is laid for students to progress into research degrees on the Middle East, in history, politics and other social science specialisations.
Entry requirements A good honours degree preferably, but not necessarily, in Arabic, Islamic or Middle Eastern Studies.
