Our BA (Hons) Fine Art course in Farnham reflects the attitude of contemporary art practice, promoting critical engagement with society, culture and politics whether through painting, sculpture, printmaking, photography, drawing, film or performance, and the combining of these.
Whilst on the course, you'll explore how art is disseminated through live projects, exhibitions, curatorial exercises, work experience gaining valuable insight and transferable skills in leadership, project management and collaboration.
Within dedicated studios and workshops focusing on material craft skills, digital and advanced specialist methods of working, you’ll discover how artists sustain a profile, become employable and promote themselves in the wider world.
With access to leading artists, academics and facilities, our BA (Hons) Fine Art course in Farnham offers you an eclectic environment where you can explore diverse creative avenues.
From traditional crafts to technological artworks, you’ll have the freedom to develop your own artistic voice, informed by a dynamic programme of study.
The course has many links within the art world including galleries, artist-run studios and project spaces in addition to major UK museums.

From the start you’ll have the opportunity to create live project exhibitions in London and the South East in order to locate new networks and audiences for your work.
You’ll receive regular tutorials and lectures from internationally recognised artists and curators – recent visitors have included Gavin Turk, Phyllida Barlow, Gustav Metzger, Richard Wentworth and Turner Prize winner Martin Creed.
There are also live curatorial projects where students have previously collaborated with diverse communities, refugees, writers and experimental sound artists across the UK and Europe.
As a long-established and well-connected course, Fine Art at our Farnham campus has strong industry links including The Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA), Jerwood Space, The Henry Moore Institute, Watts Gallery, Cobham, TATE Galleries, and Blyth Gallery Imperial College.
Our alumni have won and participated in prestigious art prizes such as BT New Contemporaries, the Jerwood Drawing Prize, John Moores Painting Prize, TATE Young Artists, The Discerning Eye, The Woon Art Foundation Prize and the Neo Art Print Prize.
The adaptability instilled in our students has translated into exciting and diverse opportunities for many of our graduates, from creating concert projections for Madonna to collaborating with Sadler’s Wells, others have gone on to become practicing artists, curators, creative project managers, teachers, writers, production assistants, technicians, arts administrators, gallery owners, illustrators and art historians.
The course is approximately 75% practical and 25% theoretical.
