Introducing MA Business with Marketing
Business with Marketing encompasses the study of public, private and not-for-profit organisations, both small and large, their management practices and processes, and the changing external environment in which they operate. The ability to follow a concentration of courses in marketing enables you to develop a specialism within the broader business programme structure.
This programme holds triple accreditation from international ranking bodies AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA.
What you will study
You will study Global Challenges for Business and The Business of Edinburgh which introduce key concepts of management and business including strategy, finance, marketing and the management of people. You will also study Accountancy 1A, an Introduction to Financial Accounting, and Accountancy 1B, an Introduction to Management Accounting as well as options which may include courses in other subject areas.
You will study Business Research Methods I: Introduction to Data Analysis, Marketing and Career Development Planning. You can also choose from the following courses: Innovation and Entrepreneurship; Business Economics; Principles of Finance; Applications of Finance; HR Management; International Business; Organisational Behaviour 2; Business Simulation; Business Analytics and Information Systems.
You will study Strategic Management; Business Research Methods II: Applications and Analysis. In addition you will choose more specialist courses in business and marketing.
You will study further specialist courses in business including some options in marketing, for example, Brand Culture; Consumer Behaviour; Digital Marketing; Advertising: Theories and Practice and you will complete a dissertation on a topic closely linked to marketing.

Business graduates are highly valued by employers across the world. You will have a choice of careers open to you, including accountancy and taxation, management, consulting, finance, marketing and human resources.
English language requirements
You must provide evidence that your written and spoken English is at a level that will enable you to succeed in your studies.
English language tests
If English is not your first language, you must have one of the following qualifications as evidence of your spoken and written English:
- IELTS Academic module overall 7.0 with 6.0 in each component
- TOEFL-iBT 100 or above with 20 in each section
- Cambridge English: Advanced or Proficiency overall 185 with 169 in each component
- Pearson Test of English (Academic): Total 67 with at least 56 in each "Communicative Skills" section
- Trinity ISE: ISE III with a pass in all four components
About English language requirements
SQA and GCSE
For SQA and GCSE students, unless a higher level is specified in the stated entry requirements, a pass is required in English at the following grades or higher:
- SQA National 5 Grade C
- SQA Standard Grade 3
- SQA Intermediate 1 Grade A
- SQA Intermediate 2 Grade C
- GCSE Grade Cor 4
- IB Standard Level Grade 5

Tuition fees for MA Business with Marketing
If studying abroad in Year 3, your costs will vary by country. In Year 4 you will undertake a dissertation and, depending on the field of study you choose, there may be costs associated with undertaking surveys and conducting interviews.
