About International Relations with French at Swansea University

Course Overview

The BA International Relations with French provides students with a detailed understanding of the international system, key issues, language skills and an appreciation of the global dynamics at work.

Key features

  • International Relations students have the option of studying Politics modules.
  • During the third year, students spend a year abroad and can study at a University, teach in a school or work in a business.
  • The 'National Assembly for Wales Internship' (PO3000) is a Level 3 module open to International Relations students. The students work for an AM at the National Assembly in Cardiff for one day per week for a semester.  
  • During the third year of study, students spend a year abroad in France. Students can study at a University, teach in a school or work in a business during the year abroad in France.
  • Our French modules combine intensive language tuition with optional modules relating to a wide variety of aspects of society and culture in the French-speaking world.
  • Our students have an academic mentor who provides pastoral support and guidance on issues that may affect their well-being, attendance and progress through University.

Annual tuition fees for entry in the academic year 2017/18 are as follows:

UK/EU International BA (Hons) Full-time £9,000 £14,050

Fees for full time Undergraduate UK/EU students may be increased in subsequent years of study by an inflationary amount determined by Welsh Government.

Fees for full time Undergraduate International students will increase by 3% for each subsequent year of study.

Entry requirements

Our standard entry requirement is BBB at A Level (UCAS tariff points 120) or equivalent. Students should also have a B grade at GCSE in a relevant language. All offers are made following a review of the application form, predicted/achieved grades and subjects, the reference and personal statement.  We also accept a range of advanced level qualifications including BTEC Diploma DMM; International Baccalaureate 32; Welsh Baccalaureate - grade equivalent to A-level; Access to Higher Education and Open University qualifications, and Extended Project.
