About Egyptology at Swansea University

Course Overview

The BA Egyptology offers the study of Egyptian Language, Egyptian Art and Architecture, Egyptian Civilisation and Egyptian History. Egyptology recently achieved overall satisfaction rating of 95% in the National Student Survey (NSS) and is now rated 9th in the Guardian's rankings out of 21 HEIs.

  • Egyptology students can take the Egyptian Collection Practicum module, a four-week session providing practical experience for students on site.
  • Egyptology students have the option of studying a Dissertation or a Museum project at the University's Egypt Centre.
  • Egyptology students can teach beginners Hieroglyphs to members of the local community during the summer. 
  • Egyptology students can gain teaching experience by leading workshops for the South West Wales Reaching Wider Partnership.

Notes about fees for this course

Annual tuition fees for entry in the academic year 2017/18 are as follows:

UK/EU International BA (Hons) Full-time £9,000 £16,400

Fees for full time Undergraduate UK/EU students may be increased in subsequent years of study by an inflationary amount determined by Welsh Government.

Fees for full time Undergraduate International students will increase by 3% for each subsequent year of study.

Entry requirements

Our standard entry requirement is BBB (UCAS tariff points 120) or equivalent. All offers are made following a review of the application form, predicted/achieved grades and subjects, the reference and personal statement.  We also accept a range of advanced level qualifications including: International Baccalaureate 32; Welsh Baccalaureate - grade equivalent to A-level; Access to Higher Education and Open University qualifications, and Extended Project.
