About Travel and Tourism Management at Northumbria University Newcastle

If you have a global outlook and a passion for working with people, this degree enables you to develop the necessary skills for a successful career in the travel and tourism industry.

You will analyse the industry through a business and management lens and cover topics such as destination planning and event management.

One of the course highlights is the second year overseas field trip, included as part of your course fees. Previous destinations include Cyprus, Spain and Tenerife. There is also a placement opportunity in your third year, with Disney and Marriott Hotels USA popular amongst students.

As the longest established Travel and Tourism degree in the UK, it has a first-rate reputation with organisations in the industry. Furthermore, Northumbria University is one of only four Institute of Travel and Tourism Centres of Excellence in the UK.

87% of students from this course continue to study or are within graduate level employment within six months of graduating (Unistats 2013). It opens up a wide range of career choices within the travel and tourism sector, including travel operations, events and hospitality management and marketing. Previous graduates from this course have set up their own successful and award- winning businesses, whilst others go on to work for large organisations such as Virgin Atlantic and Great Rail Journeys.
