Part-time: 13 days over a period of 6 months, beginning in October or February.

Part-time Delivery

This course is part-time, taught over 13 days in a period of 6 months. Teaching takes place one day per week, in six-week blocks.

The course begins with an induction lasting one day, followed by one day per week of teaching for six consecutive weeks, which leads up to the first assignment.  You will then have six further weeks to complete your first assignment, before returning to taught lessons of one day per week for another six consecutive weeks. You will then have another six weeks off to complete your second assignment before completion of the Certificate.

On completion, you then have the opportunity to join a postgraduate Master's programme.

UK and EU students

UK and EU students: Part-time fee: £2,460 studied per year. Tuition fees will remain the same for each year of your course providing you complete it in the normal timeframe (no repeat years or breaks in study).

Non-EU and Channel Island students

Non-EU international and Channel Island students: Part-time fee: £4,634 studied per year. Tuition fees will remain the same for each year of your course providing you complete it in the normal timeframe (no repeat years or breaks in study).

Additional Information

A Masters qualification typically comprises 180 credits, a PGDip 120 credits, a PGCert 60 credits, and an MFA 300 credits. Tuition fees will remain the same for each year of study provided the course is completed in the normal timeframe (no repeat years or breaks in study).

How are these costs calculated?

All of the books required for the course are available from the library. The University also has PC labs and a laptop loan service. However, many students choose to buy some of the core textbooks for the course and/or a laptop. Students may also need to print their assignments and other documents. Campus printing costs start from 5p per page. Estimated costs are £300 for a laptop up to £100 each year for books and printing.

Designed to build on the practical knowledge and skills you have developed through your experience of management, this dual award is ideal for managers wishing to demonstrate that they not only understand theory, but how it can be put into practice. 

This programme is for people who have may not have had any formal education for some time, or they may be looking for a stepping stone to other courses or they require practical leadership and management skills they can return to work and apply immediately.

Through this programme, you explore the latest techniques, skills and thinking appropriate to modern management and leadership practice. By completing this programme, you will receive not only a University Certificate  but also a Diploma in Leadership awarded by the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM).

You can complete this course in six months and then have the opportunity to progress onto a postgraduate Master's programme.

Career options after the course

Graduates of this course will gain a detailed understanding of effective management, leadership and project management practice, allowing them to apply for management-level positions or pursue a promotion in their existing role. 

Successful students will be eligible to progress onto one of the Business School's Masters courses, which include MSc Management, MSc Leadership and MSc Project Management or our MBA programmes, which offer MBA qualifications in digital management, financial services or strategic health and social care. 

On completion of the course, you will receive a University Certificate and a Diploma from the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM), the professional body for practicing leaders and managers in the UK. This professional qualification will help with your career progression in a management function, greatly enhancing your CV and showing potential employers you are actively engaged in continuing your professional development.
