Manchester Law School

This online distance learning LL.M (Master of Laws) degree provides an in depth understanding of the development and application of international business, trade and commercial laws.

Global trade and commerce is constantly evolving and adapting to new technologies, products and market conditions. Nation states' laws and regulations must comply with international rules to allow trade to be carried out competitively across national boundaries in order to achieve strengthened markets and provide for strong economies.

This internationally recognised postgraduate law degree will appeal to those who are looking to develop an in-depth understanding of and expertise in key areas of international trade, corporate and commercial laws. It may be particularly relevant for practising legal professionals or those employed in finance or business who wish to deepen their knowledge and understanding of this increasingly relevant area of the law for legal practice.

The degree also seeks to inform students of the implications for trading and commerce in the post-Brexit world, as well as looking at the practical dimensions of the continually developing law to companies, traders and state bodies.

Placement options

Our dedicated careers adviser will provide assistance with cultivating links to the legal profession and other legally related employers. You will also receive support with careers from your tutors and you will have the opportunity to connect with practising staff.

Career options after the course

The LL.M in International Business Law distance learning programme allows you to gain specialist knowledge in key areas of international business law, and the transferable skills essential to understanding and succeeding in this complex and ever-changing arena.

It is suitable for lawyers who wish to practice in an international context, or those in business or finance who are interested in gaining a better legal understanding of the global business environment.

A postgraduate law qualification with an international business law specialism can provide an attractive addition to a CV if you wish to specialise in the business or commercial spheres. It is widely recognised in the UK and internationally in many other common and civil law jurisdictions.

What students think about Manchester Metropolitan University

Meet Darryl Tracey Lim Chuin-Yi from Malaysia

Testimonial from Meet Darryl Tracey Lim Chuin-Yi from Malaysia, student at Manchester Metropolitan University

Manchester Met is a fantastic place to further your studies. I first came to the University in 2011 as an undergraduate student and then continued on to study MSc Hospitality Management. The academic staff are excellent and the tutors here are qualified and very experienced. It has been a wonderful experience for both my undergraduate and postgraduate studies.

The facilities here are great with a library open 24/7 during term time and online databases. Many assignments involve working with industry on projects, which has enabled me to experience what working in the hospitality industry is really like. During my time here, I have networked with people from my industry, had my dissertation poster approved for a hospitality conference and won a placement in the US. It has definitely improved my CV.

The student support I have received here has been a great help. I applied for a placement in the US and staff at the University helped me throughout the process, from advice on my applications to help writing a great CV. English language support is also available through special programmes.

Manchester is such an international city and there are many friends to make and different cuisines to try. The student life here is great and there is lots to do from volunteering to sports. In my free time, I like to explore the museums and try out different restaurants in Manchester. I also enjoy traveling to different cities in the UK.

If you are considering Manchester Met for your studies my best advice would be to just say yes. Be aware of the opportunities available and just go for it!

Testimonial from Meet Dalya Algarni from Saudi Arabia , student at Manchester Metropolitan University

Manchester Met welcomed me and other international students with great support and advice, from the support staff at the student hub to the course tutors. Throughout this course, I have gained considerable knowledge that has added to my personal experience as a student. Tutors encouraged us to learn and to reach successful outcomes, such as thinking critically and supporting our points of view. Accepting my point of view and talking freely is one of the things that raised my self-confidence.

I would definitely recommend future postgraduate students apply to study at Manchester Metropolitan University.
