About Software Engineering at Mälardalen University

The proliferation and growing influence of software in business and our daily lives have been phenomenal. Software engineering deals with the design and development of high-quality software systems – and hence is an increasingly important area in computer science. In this programme you will gain advanced knowledge and practical skills in software engineering.

During this programme, you will acquire good theoretical knowledge and excellent skills in engineering software-intensive systems, which encompass the ability to cope with the complexity of understanding as well as developing them. You will acquire knowledge of principles for the analysis, design and implementation of large and complex software systems. Students successfully completing this programme will be able to demonstrate understanding of the methodologies and techniques of software management and to apply them to a range of development scenarios. You will be able to take advantage of global diversity and work in international teams. Close industrial collaboration, including for example industrial guest lectures and thesis projects related to partner industries such as ABB, Ericsson or Volvo, links theory to practice.

Starting with the academic year 2011/2012, students who are citizens of countries outside the European Union (EU), European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland, are required to pay a tuition fee for studies in Sweden.

Entry requirements

A TOEFL test result, with a minimum score of 575 with a score of at least 4.5 (PBT) or 90 with a TWE score of at least 20 (iBT) or an IELTS test result with an overall band score of at least 6.5 and no band score below 5.5 or equivalent is required.
