About Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at Liverpool John Moores University

By completing this degree, you will gain the high level technical and manufacturing expertise required to practice manufacturing engineering and function in the role of Chartered Engineer within the engineering and manufacturing industries.

The course aims to produce a high quality mechanical engineer with good technical skills, but also with the manufacturing knowledge which is in demand across many industrial sectors.

Alongside the core engineering syllabus you will learn essential manufacturing techniques at all levels of the programme, in areas such as manufacturing processes and materials engineering plus as core business skills.

LJMU is currently seeking Institution of Mechanical Engineers accreditation for this new programme. Such accreditation will qualify you for registration as a Chartered Engineer.

Progression opportunities

If you perform particularly well in the first two years of this degree, you can transfer onto the MEng programme, which fully qualifies you to register as a Chartered Engineer.

Links with national and international companies, such as BMW, Airbus Industries, Rolls Royce and Shell mean that the course is tailored to the needs of employers.

Notes about fees for this course

The fees quoted are those for the 2018/19 year as information for 2019/20 is not yet available. The Department for Education (DfE) have recently announced that they will be freezing tuition fees for the 2019/20 academic year. However, this is still subject to the normal parliamentary approval. Once 2019/20 fees are confirmed we will update our web pages accordingly.
