The Department of Maritime and Mechanical Engineering is one of the UK’s leading centres for maritime and engineering education with an outstanding reputation for producing world-leading research. The Advanced Manufacturing Training Centre (AMTC) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the MTC. The Lloyds Advanced Manufacturing Training Centre in Coventry, linked to the MTC Catapult, was the first organisation to be designated as a hub of the National College of Advanced Manufacturing.
LJMU and the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) share research and programmes for the development and transfer of new technologies in advanced manufacturing. The MTC has established a base at LJMU which is the only National Catapult Centre in the North West of England to introduce emerging Industry 4.0 technologies and processes to the manufacturing sector. The partnership to deliver the BEng (Hons) Advanced Manufacturing degree in the Midlands and North West builds on an existing partnership for the development of new technologies and technology transfer.
