About Economics and Accountancy, MA (Hons) - at Heriot-Watt University

The MA in Economics and Accountancy does not require prior knowledge of the core disciplines of economics and accountancy. Study begins at an introductory level and the degree has a flexible structure to enable students to tailor their studies so that they can pursue their own interests. As a result, graduates are able to embark upon successful careers, especially in accounting, banking, finance, the civil service and a wide range of management roles, and also pursue further study in economics and related disciplines.

Entry requirements

Year 1

  • Highers AAAB (over two sittings)
  • A-Levels BBB
  • Int. Baccalaureate 29 points
  • HNC B in graded unit

Year 2

  • Advanced Highers BB in relevant subjects, plus AAAB at Higher.
  • A-Levels ABB in relevant subjects
  • Int. Baccalaureate 34 points plus relevant subjects
  • HND BB in graded units, relevant HND
  • Additional information Minimum of grade C in Mathematics at Scottish Higher, grade C in Mathematics at AS or 5 in HL Maths for International Baccalaureate is required.

Additional information

  • Intermediate 2 / National 5 / GCSE English and Mathematics are required for all Economics programmes.
  • BTEC Relevant BTEC qualifications are accepted; please contact Admissions Tutor for further details
