About Software Engineering at CODE University of Applied Sciences

Software engineering is the systematic application of engineering principles to the development of software systems. Our study program covers the ability to solve complex tasks programmatically by designing the software architecture, producing clean and well-documented code and following best practices from various domains, such as automated testing and security. The Software Engineering Bachelor’s program is fully taught in English.

In these topics we always aim for a deeper understanding that transcends the properties and abilities of a specific framework, tool or programming language. This knowledge is complemented by practical experience in organizing and collaborating in interdisciplinary teams.

Competent software engineers are excellent problem solvers and combine abstract thinking skills with a hands-on mentality. The Software Engineering Bachelor’s program provides you with comprehensive scientific and practically applicable competencies you need to become an expert in the field of software development.

We also provide the ability to specialize in various fields of software engineering, to develop your professional profile.

Software engineers make the world better by crafting code in a multitude of environments, disciplines, and languages – on their own and in teams. We challenge our students every day, helping them to see the depth of topics they are interested in.

Notes about fees for this course

As a private institution we have to ask our students for a substantial financial contribution in the form of tuition, because we do not get any financial support from the state. At the same time, we want to inspire and empower the digital change-makers of tomorrow. What we therefore cannot and will not do is exclude those who cannot shoulder the financial burden of private-university tuition. Read more about tuition fees here:

Entry requirements

German regulations for higher education require you to have a higher-education entrance qualification (Hochschulzugangsberechtigung) to enroll in a Bachelor’s degree program. That usually means a high school diploma/certificate, but depending on where you went to school, you might need to take further steps. Find more information here:

What students think about CODE University of Applied Sciences

    CODE's concept of freedom

Testimonial from CODE's concept of freedom, student at CODE University of Applied Sciences

I chose to study at CODE because I liked the concept of freedom - that I can work on stuff I like and thereby can study while working on my business. Also, I really liked the sort of people who applied to CODE. They are all special and have something that drives them. It’s great to be in such an environment. Because in the end, you are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with.

    A unique learning style

Testimonial from A unique learning style, student at CODE University of Applied Sciences

One of my many reasons for choosing to study at CODE is the unique learning style. I was intrigued by the idea of creating my own learning path with the support of experienced and caring individuals. My favorite thing about studying Software Engineering is the endless opportunities and a variety of learning paths there are. I love that I can explore different routes before finding and settling for something that suits me.

    - Suad Kamardeen, Software Engineering Student at CODE

    A total culture shock!

Testimonial from A total culture shock!, student at CODE University of Applied Sciences

The teacher-student relationship at CODE was a total culture shock to me. To call the teachers by their first names with no prefix? And they actually treat you like equal adults? Damn, am I still getting used to it. Everyone is so friendly and always there for you; it's quite comforting. No matter how bad you fail, the faculty always encourages you to dust yourself off and get up. Every student also gets a personal mentor chosen from the team to help you with any academic or even personal problems that you may have!

    - Kunal Kirpalani, Interaction Design Student at CODE
