The Master’s course Crossing the Mediterranean: towards Investment and Integration (MIM) offers an in-depth knowledge of the countries on the southern shores of the Mediterranean and their interactions with contemporary Europe. During the two years the course will provide theoretical interdisciplinary skills relevant to the study of migration in the Mediterranean area and on intercultural mediation, histo-social skills, qualitative and quantitative analysis skills, research techniques on the field of analysis and collected data.

The course is organised alongside l’Université Paul-Valéry 3 Montpellier (UPVM), and in collaboration with the University of Strasbourg, Sousse and Meknès.

Particular attention will be paid to teaching linguistic skills, either for improving knowledge of the French language, French variation in the Mediterranean, or for learning languages from the southern shores of the Mediterranean such as Arabic and Hebrew.

The course is taught in English and French. You will spend three months in Tunisia and Morocco to support the study of Arabic or Moroccan Arabic.

Curricula: The study path comprises three modules held in the three partner universities involved (UAB, Ca’ Foscari, UPVM) as well as a complementary module held in a Maghreb university (Sousse/Meknès) or at the University of Strasbourg, and a three-month internship.

Notes about fees for this course

Cost of the Degree Programme :

Enrolment in the Master’s Degree programme for the 2018/2019 academic year is 4,000 euros (including regional tax for the right to education and stamp duty).

This amount must be paid in 3 instalments, as follows:

  • First installment, 700 euros, to be paid upon enrolment to the course
  • Second installment, 1,600 euros, to be paid by 17/12/2019
  • Third instalment, 1,700 euros, to be paid by 15/05/2019

It is possible to request a reduction in the fees provided you have a household income of under 60,000 euros.

Entry requirements

Admission requirements:

To be admitted to the programme students must have a degree in the subjects laid down by the call for applications, or an equivalent qualification (obtained after at least three years of studies) granting access to studies at the same level, along with the relevant personal skills. Students must also have certified English proficiency at B2 level or above and an adequate knowledge of French (B1 level or above).
