About Finance and Business at Bournemouth University

This course is delivered by the AACSB accredited Business School, an accreditation which places us within the top institutions globally for business degrees. Less than 5% of business schools worldwide have attained this hallmark of excellence which recognises a focus on excellence in all areas, including teaching and student learning.

Gather the specialised skill set needed to succeed in the challenging contemporary world of finance. Our Finance & Business degree focuses on the financial aspects of business operations, and has been developed to give you a strong foundation on which to build a career in either the finance or business sectors.

The first year teaches core subjects within the realms of accounting, finance and economics, but in year two you’ll diversify into your specialist subjects or perhaps even transfer to an alternative pathway, allowing you to keep your options open or to bring your curriculum in line with your future career aspirations. The second year also opens the door to travel, as those interested in studying abroad will have the opportunity to attend one of our international partner institutions for the second semester. We currently boast partners in Australia, Canada and Europe.

In year three you’ll get the chance to throw yourself into a real-world working environment with a 30-week placement, which can be completed at home or abroad, and is intended as an opportunity for you to implement the theoretical framework forged in the classroom, whilst generating a network of key contacts, adding substance to your resume, and ultimately improving your employability.

As well as being accredited by five industry-leading bodies, this four-year course offers the bonus of exemptions for accountancy qualifications meaning you may not have to take all the exams required to become a Chartered Accountant.
