MBA in Canada

Canada is becoming a thriving place for international students to study, and currently has six MBA programs listed in the top 100 MBA rankings from the Financial Times and the Economist. Whilst Canada is becoming more popular for international study, it is no surprise that the applications to study an MBA in Canada are also increasing.

Just like other MBA programs offered across the world, business schools in Canada offer international students a range of study mode options e.g. Full time or part time. Most full-time MBA’s are studied over the course of 12 months with around 12-15 hours of teaching time each week. On the other hand, part time MBA’s can take up to 4 years to complete, and offer around 8 hours of teaching per week.

Throughout the course of a Canadian MBA program, international students will cover in detail, modules such as business, economics, management and marketing. Students will also be able to put into practice their knowledge through work placements. Some institutions also offer the opportunity to undertake work placements outside of Canada.

Entry requirements to study an MBA in Canada are similar to those for any other MBA program. You are expected to have previous experience in the field and also possess an undergraduate degree or equivalent. The majority of courses in Canada are taught in English, however, some are also taught in French; if this is not your native language then you will also be asked to demonstrate your English/ French proficiency upon application.
Graduates from MBA programs in Canada often remain in the country to pursue a career. This is because Canada offers a stable economy and excellent job prospects for business professionals. Throughout the MBA course students will develop team leading and communications skills, readying them for graduate work in various business industries. Most graduates end up gaining management careers within marketing, HR, information technology and entrepreneurship.
