Business and Management Masters

Unlike some universities, Sunderland places great importance on developing skills, as well as on theory. We aim to give you the management skills to make a fast start in your career. We will help you prepare for more senior roles and more rewarding career.

At Sunderland you'll have a wide choice of modules, allowing you to pursue your own interests and specialise in areas that you think are important.

We provide company visits which offer you with the opportunity to relate everything learnt in the classroom to the current trading world. It allows you to close the gap between theoretical learning and current working practices. You are given the chance to discuss the business issues that each particular organisation may face. This will serve to further enrich your theoretical studies as well as allowing you to take away valuable knowledge about each company. We also have a range of guest speakers that attend the University to help improve your business understanding of up-to-date issues and strategies through listening to those already in management positions. As a student, you will find the experience extremely rewarding, as you are able to guide your own questions.
We also have a range of Tourism programmes available in our Faculty. Tourism at the University of Sunderland is ranked 3rd best in the UK. (Guardian University Guide 2009)

Sunderland's law programmes help develop the key transferable skills for which all employers are looking. These include communication skills, the capacity to make strategic decisions, and the ability to work effectively with others. What's more, your enhanced expertise in analysis and logic will help you move into higher level roles in law, or any environment where a legal background is an advantage.

While many of our postgraduate students have a first degree in law, we also welcome applications from people with a background in business or other relevant professional qualifications or experience. At every stage, you'll be supported by our outstanding teaching team, which includes tutors with national and international reputations in their fields.
