The University of South Wales was formed recently through a merger of the University of Glamorgan and the University of Wales, Newport to become one of the largest universities in the UK and the largest in Wales with 33,000 students.
Combining our areas of expertise means that this new institution is much bigger and stronger. Plus, pooling our resources means our students have a better educational experience and better graduate prospects. Our students benefit from superb courses, facilities and support, as well as our growing reputation as a major university for jobs and employers.
The University has campuses throughout South Wales, in Cardiff, Newport and Pontypridd. Our unique locations mean you can enjoy everything the region has to offer – city life and culture, stunning beaches and breathtaking countryside.
Employability is at the heart of everything we do, with teaching informed by what happens in the real world. Our graduates have the skills that are essential for the workplace and value our employability schemes, business start-up support and opportunities to get actual experience, often as part of your course. It’s an approach that works – 94.8% of our graduates are in employment or further study within six months of graduation.*
Many of our courses hold accreditations by leading professional bodies in specialist fields including ACCA, the British Computer Society (BCS), Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS), the British Psychology Society (BPS), Skillset Media Academy Wales, the Institute of Fire Safety Engineers, –Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and CILECT – the association of the world’s major film and television schools which demonstrates that course content meets industry standards.
We think it’s essential to keep up with the ever-changing working environment, so we have very close links with relevant employers and industries. Companies like British Airways, General Electric, Sony, Tata and the BBC tell us what’s going on, so we can design courses that give you the skills they’re looking for.
