Course Information
  • You will graduate from this programme with a sophisticated understanding of the ways in which computer systems can support business and real-world problems and processes.
  • You will have a sound knowledge of the fundamentals of computer science as well as an understanding of humancomputer interaction and the sociological impact of information technology.
  • You will acquire a sound understanding of the professional standards and ethics of the computer industry. 
  • You will develop the skills and confidence to accommodate an ever-increasing rate of change in this fast-paced scientific field.
In your earlier years of study, you will be introduced to key concepts and tools underpinning modern computer science. You will learn how to program computers in modern programming languages, study the architecture and applications of computer systems and meet the areas of
mathematics you will need later in the course.
 
Later, you will apply your knowledge in software-engineering group projects. At the same time, you will study programming and the underlying theory of computation in greater depth. You will learn about networking and the design of largescale systems. Your programme is flexible to allow you to develop expertise in your chosen area. You will select one module each semester from a wide range of options including C  programming, computer graphics, digital documents and
user interface design. 
 
In your final year you will be able to specialise in an area of interest such as computer forensics,
computer vision, mixed reality or artificial intelligence. Computer science students have the option to switch to another computer science degree when going to the UK. Other specialisations include software engineering and artificial intelligence. 
 
At the end of your course, you will graduate with an understanding of computers and computer science, specialised knowledge of the theoretical foundations of computer science and other selected topics within the discipline, experience of using a variety of techniques for problem solving, and an understanding of the professional, legal and ethical aspects of the discipline.
 
This degree programme will prepare you for the growing demands of employers in various sectors for expertise in China as well as the opportunity to pursue postgraduate studies in computer science. Your international experiencewill be an asset to your CV. 
 
2+2 programme
 
For those students studying a four year degree, there is the opportunity to select this course as 2+2. The first two years of study will be conducted in China, with the following two years of study at the University of Nottingham in the UK.

  • TOEFL (IBT) 88 (no less than 19 in any element)
