This degree programme will equip you to work at a professional level on activities such as process design and plant operations management. It will provide you with core scientiﬁc and engineering knowledge together with a range of transferable skills including IT, communications, management, analysis and problem solving.
Chemical engineering is the processing of materials on a commercial scale to make useful and valuable products. Typical processes and products include petroleum reﬁning, petrochemicals, bulk chemicals, ﬁne chemicals, pharmaceuticals, fertilisers, food processing, fuels and energy production, water treatment and minerals processing.
In your ﬁrst year, as is the case for all our engineering students, you will be given a solid grounding in sciences such as physics, chemistry and maths for engineering. You will be introduced to software that enables you to solve engineering and mathematical problems. You will be trained
to present technical material in drawing, schematic and graphical format.
In your later years of study, you will have the opportunity to explore specialised ﬁelds, such as reactor design, plant design and process simulation. You will focus on safety and project management and high added-value product design. Specialised modules on separations and nuclear reactors are also available.
By the time you graduate, you will have the expertise to work at a professional level on activities such as process design and plant operations management. With your international experience, you will be in demand from a range of industries including energy, oil and gas, pharmaceutical, food and environmental services, as well as government agencies around the world.
2+2 or 1+2 programme
Students can opt to study the course as 2+2 or 2+1 (if suitable for a three year degree). The first part of study will be conducted in China, with the following two years of study at the University of Nottingham in the UK.
Fees in the UK will be paid at International fees rate for UK study, however each student will receive a 1.500 - 2,000 GBP scholarship for their third and fourth years.
